Weather Policies
Coaches may cancel practices if threatening weather is forecast, they should call players' families beforehand along with the team parent. If coaches, players, or parents notice lightning after a game or practice has started, it should be canceled immediately. For practices, coaches should follow the guidelines below used for games. If temperatures exceed 100 degrees and/or a heat index of 104 on a game day, or violent storms are forecast, Madison AYSO Regional leadership will decide about cancelling games for the evening.
Game cancellation will be decided by 3 p.m. and a cancellation notice will be on our phone line (661-8833). Coaches may decide to cancel practices when conditions are unsafe; Parents ultimately decide whether their children should practice or play.
Referees, Coaches and Parents should consult the phone line after 3 p.m. for current information. If no information is given for that evening, presume the games will be played as scheduled. Parent's/guardians must decide if your child should participate on such days.
A referee or AYSO designated volunteer will be posted at each field before the first game to notify those who come to the game without knowledge of it being cancelled. Coaches, Team Parents, Color Coordinators and other volunteers should use their phone trees when a game as been cancelled due to weather conditions.
Again, Parents have the final authority about having their children participate on any given day for any given reason.
